Dreamweaver CS3, Advanced

Students will build upon what they learned in Dreamweaver CS3 Introduction. Students will learn advanced features of CSS Style Sheets, how to use Site assets, adding Rollovers to a page, using AP elements, using Multimedia such as Flash within a page, working with XML, and Collaboration and Publishing.


Audience

This course will benefit students who want to learn how to use Dreamweaver CS3 to create and modify Web sites. Students will learn how to define content sections and apply CSS styles, manage site assets, create interactive forms, apply AP div tags and behaviors, add multimedia files, and integrate XML-based data and transform XML with XSLT. Students should have prior experience with Dreamweaver, including formatting text, creating tables, applying images and links, managing Web site files, and publishing a site.


Prerequisites

Students taking this course should be familiar with personal computers and the use of a keyboard and a course. Furthermore, this course assumes that students have completed the following courses or have equivalent experience:

  • Dreamweaver CS3: Basic


Performance-Based Objectives

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  • Identify the advantages of using CSS and the difference between internal and external style sheets; link a page to an external style sheet; define content sections with
    tags and IDs; and edit CSS rules.
  • Create and update library items and snippets; create and edit server-side includes; create page templates, define editable regions, and apply templates to other site pages; create and edit head elements; and add keywords and descriptions to pages.
  • Create an interactive form and add a variety of input components to it, and set the tab order of form fields.
  • Create a navigation bar using rollover images, and use behaviors to swap images on the page and to open a new browser window, and download Dreamweaver extensions.
  • Insert AP Divs by using the Draw AP Div tool; manipulate the position, size, and visibility of AP Divs; and control visibility dynamically.
  • Insert Flash buttons and Flash text, add Flash and FlashPaper files to Web pages, add Windows Media Player files and QuickTime files, and create basic animation using the Timelines panel.
  • Convert an HTML page to an XSLT page, bind XML data to an XSLT page, create a repeat region in an XSLT page, create dynamic links, and attach an XSLT page to an XML document.
  • Use Check In/Check Out options, use Design Notes to manage files in a group work setting, check for browser-specific errors using the Check Browser Compatibility features, and check for and fix accessibility problems.
