Access 2007, VBA

In previous levels, you were introduced to advanced topics that dealt with local database management. In this course, you will learn remote database management, how to exchange data with XML and other type applications, and how to automate your business processes by using VBA code.


Audience

The target student for this course should be familiar with Access 2007 and Visual Basic for Applications. Students should be able to use various VBA programming elements. Students get the most out of this course, if their goal is to become proficient in working with objects and collections, and implementing ActiveX Data Objects.


Prerequisites

To ensure the successful completion of Microsoft Office Access 2007: VBA, the following courses or equivalent knowledge is recommended: Microsoft Office Access 2007: Introduction, Microsoft Office Access 2007: Intermediate


Performance-Based Objectives

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  • Work with objects, use Object Browser, identify collection objects, and use the Controls collection.
  • Manipulate data by declaring variables, combine data by using expressions, get user input, create Sub and Function procedures, and call one procedure from another.
  • Use decision structures and use loop structures.
  • Identify ActiveX Data Objects (ADO) architecture and collections, connect to a database, work with a Recordset, and create a parameter query.
  • Identify compile-time, run-time, and logical errors; use the debugging tools; and write error-handling code.
  • CertBlaster preparation and materials also included.

  • Unit 5: VBA debugging tools
  • Unit 6: Office integration
